How To Assess Clawgs V3 Sizes
Always assess sizes while dogs are standing.
Claws recede into Clawgs when dogs are laying, so if Clawgs are tight on toes while paws are limp, they'll be too small and/or tight when dogs stand.
It is normal for one or both side claws to touch the sole rather than the ground.
Clawgs' sole is extended under side toes/claws.
There's lots of variation between side toe/claw location with respect to front toe/claw location from dog to dog and there isn't much space between toe pads' ends and claws' tips.
It is better for a side claw to touch the inside of Clawgs' sole than for a front or side toe to touch the ground.
Focus on front toes' and claws' locations with respect to the sole - not side claws' locations.
Once you're confident you have the correct sizes, you are welcome to trim the excess sole under side claws.
Focus on front (middle) toes and claws when assessing sizes, not side toes and claws.
It's normal for one or both side claws to touch the sole rather than the ground.
How To Avoid False Front Edges:
1. Ensure dogs' heels are set in Clawgs' heels.
2. Ensure heel straps' top edges' stitches are above dogs' paws' sides' bone prominence, which you can feel on paw sides.
Correct Size
Clawgs that are the correct size prevent toe pads from touching the ground, but leave front (middle) claws touching or hovering over the ground while..
- dogs are standing
-and-
- Clawgs' heel straps' top edges' stitches are above dogs' paws' sides' bone prominence, which you can feel on paw sides.
Correct Size, But...
Clawgs' heel straps' top edges' stitches are on or below paws' sides' bone prominence, which can be felt on paw sides.
If heel straps are too loose and/or aren't locked in buckles' cinch slots and/or aren't secured above paws' sides' bone prominence, Clawgs appear to be too large, but may actually be the correct size.
Too Large
When Clawgs are too large, dogs' front claws' tips touch or hover over Clawgs' sole while..
- dogs' heels are set in Clawgs' heels
-and-
- Clawgs' heel straps' top edges' stitches are above dogs' paws' sides' bone prominence, which you can feel on paw sides.
Using Clawgs that are too large increases risk of toes and claws sliding through incorrect claw openings. This may cause front straps to slide between toes rather than wrap around toes.
If your Clawgs are too large, please return them within 30 days of delivery.
Too Small
Toes' pads' fronts touch the ground while heel straps' top edges' stitches are above paws' sides' bone prominence, which can be felt on paw sides.
Using Clawgs that are too small with heel straps above paws' sides' bone prominence increases risk of toe pads touching the ground and front straps sliding between toes.
If your Clawgs are too small, please return them within 30 days of delivery
Too Small - False Front Edge
When Clawgs are too small AND the heel straps' top edges' stitches slide onto or below paws' sides' bone prominence (which can be felt on paw sides), Clawgs' appear to be the correct size, but are actually too small.
Using Clawgs that are too small with heel straps' top edges' stitch on paws' sides' bone prominence increases risk of irritation in that area due to the top stitch opping above and below the bone prominence.
Using Clawgs that are too small with heel straps' top edges' stitch below paws' sides' bone prominence increases risk of squeezing toe bones together that want to spread when dogs stand. It also increases the risk of Clawgs falling off.
