HOW TO ASSESS CLAWGS V3 SIZES
Always assess sizes while dogs are standing.
Claws recede into Clawgs when dogs are laying, so if Clawgs are tight on toes while paws are limp, they'll be too small and/or tight when dogs stand.

ENSURE DOGS' HEELS ARE SET IN CLAWGS' HEEL

Lift paws and pull Clawgs' front edge forward.
(The above Clawg is one size too large.)

Ensure Clawgs heel straps' top edges' stitches are just above dogs' paws' sides' bones, which you can feel on paw sides.
(The above Clawg is the correct size with heel straps in the correct spot.)

If the heel straps' top edges' stitches are on or below dogs' paws' sides' bones, the heel straps are too loose and/or not secured in the buckles' cinch slots.
(The above Clawg is the correct size, but the heel straps are too low & loose.)

The heel straps' top edge stitch location with respect to paw side bone location is just as important as Clawgs' front edge location with respect to front toe pads' location.
(The above Clawg is too small even though the front edge is in the correct location because the heel strap's top edge's stitches are too low.)
Clawgs' heel straps' top edges' stitches location with respect to dogs' paws' sides' bones directly effects Clawgs' front edge location with respect to dogs' front toes and claws.
The heel straps' top edges' stitches must be above dogs' paws' sides' bones. Ideally they're completely above the paw side bones, like the Size 12 Clawg at the bottom of the three photos. But if they're too high, dogs' heels may not properly set into Clawgs' heel, which makes them more likely to spin off center.

Focus on front (middle) toes and claws with respect to Clawgs' front edge.

It's normal for one or both side claws to touch (or hover above) the sole rather than the ground.
(The above Clawg is the correct size.)

Clawgs' sole is extended under side toes/claws out of an abundance of caution.
There's lots of variation between side toe/claw location with respect to front toe/claw location from dog to dog and there isn't much space between toe pads' ends and claws' tips.
It is better for a side claw to touch the inside of Clawgs' sole than for a front or side toe to touch the ground.

Once you're confident you have the correct sizes, you are welcome to trim the excess sole under side claws.
CORRECT SIZE:

Clawgs that are the correct size prevent toe pads from touching the ground, but leave front (middle) claws touching or hovering over the ground while..
- dogs are standing
-and-
- Clawgs' heel straps' top edges' stitches are above dogs' paws' sides' bone prominence, which you can feel on paw sides.

Correct size, but...
Clawgs' heel straps' top edges' stitches are on or below paws' sides' bone prominence, which can be felt on paw sides.
If heel straps are too loose and/or aren't locked in buckles' cinch slots, Clawgs may appear to be too large, but may actually be the correct size.
(The above Clawg is the correct size, but the heel straps are too low & loose.)
TOO LARGE:
When Clawgs are too large, dogs' front claws' tips touch or hover over Clawgs' sole while dogs' heels are set all the way back in Clawgs' heels.
Using Clawgs that are too large increases risk of toes and claws sliding through incorrect claw openings. This may cause front straps to slide between toes rather than wrap around toes.
If your Clawgs are too large, please return them within 30 days of delivery.

TOO SMALL:

When Clawgs are too small, toes' pads' fronts touch the ground (or hover over) while heel straps' top edges' stitches are above paws' sides' bones, which can be felt on paw sides.
Using Clawgs that are too small with heel straps above paws' sides' bone prominence increases risk of toe pads touching the ground and front straps sliding between toes.

When Clawgs are too small AND the heel straps' top edges' stitches slide onto or below paws' sides' bones, Clawgs' appear to be the correct size, but are actually too small.
Using Clawgs that are too small with heel straps' top edges' stitch on paws' sides' bones increases risk of irritation in that area due to the top stitch popping above and below the bone prominence.
Using Clawgs that are too small with heel straps' top edges' stitch below paws' sides' bones increases risk of squeezing toe bones together that want to spread when dogs stand. It also increases the risk of Clawgs falling off.
If your Clawgs are too small, please return them within 30 days of delivery.
