HOW TO PUT ON CLAWGS V3 AFTER THE FIRST TIME:

You can wrap the heel straps and fasten the buckle on standing or lying dogs, but it's best to fasten Clawgs' Velcro toe straps while dogs are STANDING.

Toes spread when dogs stand and recede into Clawgs when dogs lay or lift paws. If you're fully tightening toe straps on lying dogs or lifted paws, they will be too tight when dogs stand.

If you're putting Clawgs on a lying dog, leave the Velcro toe straps slightly loose so toes can spread when dogs stand. Then, assess and readjust toe straps when dogs stand but before adventuring.

If this is your first time Clawging a dog, please see how to put on Clawgs for the first time, then assess Clawgs sizes, then come here.

SETUP:

To make it easier to put Clawgs on and reduce the chances of loose Velcro unintentionally attaching, turn Clawgs' heel and front claws' opening inside out.

STEP 1:

WRAP HEEL STRAPS

FASTEN BUCKLE

INSERT FRONT CLAWS IN CLAWGS' FRONT CLAWS' OPENING.

Wrap heel straps above dogs' paws' sides' bones, but below dew claws and fasten the buckle.

Then, slide the heel straps down until the paw side bones prevent the heel straps from sliding further.

On paws without dew claws, wrap the heel straps high and fasten the buckle.

Then, slide the heel straps down until the paw side bones prevent the heel straps from sliding further.

Lift paws, pull Clawgs' front edge under paws, and firmly set the dog's heel all the way back into the Clawg's heel.

Slide the front (middle) claws through the Clawgs front claws' opening.

STEP 2:

PRESS SLIDER AGAINST FRONT KNUCKLES

ANGLE FRONT STRAPS TOWARDS TOP STRAPS

FASTEN TOP STRAPS TO FRONT STRAPS

Push and hold the slider against front knuckles with one hand, angle the front straps toward the top straps, then fasten the top straps as tight as possible while dogs are standing.

Note: Front strap tips may need to go under Clawgs' top sides.

Clawgs must be tight on paws from front to back in order to set dogs' heels all the way back into Clawgs' heels, which keeps them centered on paws.

STEP 3:

CENTER CLAWGS ON PAWS

FASTEN SIDE STRAPS TO TOP STRAPS

If Clawgs are off center or side claws are stuck under front straps, lift and center Clawgs.

With Clawgs centered well, fasten side straps to gently hug the front sides of side toes (near side claws) while dogs are standing.

If Clawgs sides can not hug the front sides of side toes (near side claws) while dogs are standing, leave the side straps a bit loose.

If you're putting Clawgs on a lying down dog, leave the side straps a bit loose, then reassess strap tightness when the dog stands.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE SIDE STRAPS!

  • Dogs hate their toes being squeezed from the sides.

  • Side strap stretchiness is intended to let dogs' toes spread, not squeeze them together.

  • It is better to leave side straps way too loose than slightly too tight.

  • The side straps main purpose is to prevent debris from getting in.

  • Overtightening side straps typically wedges side toes forward rather than holding them back.

  • Tightening the FRONT STRAPS (not side straps) has the biggest impact on preventing Clawgs from spinning.

That's it!
