Clawgs V2 vs Clawgs V3 Comparison

Clawgs V2 vs Clawgs V3 Comparison

The biggest change from Clawgs V2 to Clawgs V3 is the fasteners, which makes Clawgs V3 simpler to put on, particularly the first time.

After making initial adjustments for both Clawgs versions, they're simple to put on every time afterwards. However, most people prefer Clawgs V3.

Clawgs V3's heel straps have an independent buckle and Velcro toe straps.

Clawgs V3’s buckle is smaller and rests on heel straps slightly above dogs' paws’ pivot lines.

Clawgs V2's have a single buckle for all straps, including the two heel straps and four toe straps.

Clawgs V2’s buckles' are larger and rest on side straps, which rest on paw tops.

Clawgs V3 looks nicer without excess straps flopping around out front.

However, Clawgs V2's excess toe straps can be stitched and trimmed after they're properly adjusted to dogs' unique paws.

Clawgs V3's completely open with straps spread wide.

Size 1-6 Clawgs V2 opens down the middle with three straps held by each buckle side.

Size 7-12 Clawgs V2 opens down the middle with three straps held by each buckle side and a slider holding the front two straps together.

Because Clawgs V3s open completely, people can wrap Clawgs V3's heel straps around paws and fasten the buckle without even lifting a paw.

Clawgs V3’s heel straps are also easier to tighten because buckles hold them independently.

Paws must be lifted and set in Clawgs V2 before fastening the buckle.

On sizes 7-12, dogs' front claws must be threaded through Clawgs V2's front claws’ opening while pulling the heel straps above dogs' paws’ sides’ bone prominence and fastening the buckle.

Because Clawgs V2’s buckle is shared with heel straps and toe straps, it's more challenging to fully tighten heel straps above paws’ sides’ bone prominence.

Clawgs V3’s heel straps are simply secured in buckles' cinch slots to prevent them from loosen.

To prevent Clawgs V2’s heel straps from loosening, people must zig zag the heel straps through two buckle loops and pull the excess slack between the two buckle loops through the second buckle loop.

Note that once the heel straps are properly adjusted and secured in buckles for both versions, they should not need to be adjusted again.

Most people prefer wrapping Clawgs V3 around paws and fastening each Velcro toe strap at the appropriate length every time they put Clawgs on.

However, Clawgs V2's buckles hold toe straps' lengths while Clawgs are opened, so it’s easy to maintain strap lengths while repeatedly putting on and removing Clawgs V2.

Clawgs V2 is a good option for people who cannot afford V3, who dislike Velcro, or who will struggle to repeatedly attach Velcro at correct lengths.

For dogs who will be laying around in Clawgs for long durations, we strongly recommend Clawgs V3 because Clawgs V2’s buckle is more likely to poke dogs' undersides when laying in certain positions, particularly the Clawgs on back paws. If you intend to only use Clawgs while dogs are active, V2 works great.

Clawgs V3 is only available in sizes 5-12. If you need sizes 1-4, Clawgs V2 is currently the only option. However, it's possible to slightly overtighten size 5 Clawgs V3's heel straps to make them fit on dogs thought to need size 4 Clawgs (as long as dogs don't have low hanging dew claws). We do not have a size 1-4 new Clawgs version estimated release date.
